Sometimes the simplest projects end up being the most fun.
This Frankenstein printable started as a coloring page I drew for my son. After he colored it, we decided to cut it out and add a craft stick to turn it into a puppet. And then, naturally, it needed to become a mask too.

So now this little Frankenstein can be used three different ways: as a coloring page, a puppet, or a Halloween mask.
It’s an easy Halloween activity that kids can make their own, and you only need a few basic supplies.

Print the Frankenstein page and let your child color or paint it however they’d like.
We tried several different versions at our house—markers, crayons, colored pencils, and paint—and I love how different they all turned out.
You can stop there and use it as a simple Halloween coloring page, or turn it into one of the crafts below.

Make a Frankenstein Puppet
To make the puppet:
- Color or paint the Frankenstein.
- Cut around the outside edge.
- Tape or glue a craft stick to the back.
- Let it dry, then play!
Cardstock will make a sturdier puppet, but regular printer paper works too.
These would be fun for Halloween pretend play, storytelling, or even making several different Frankensteins for a little puppet show.
Make a Frankenstein Mask
You can also turn Frankenstein into a wearable mask.
The mask version has eye openings placed differently from the illustrated eyes on the coloring page so they work better for actually seeing through the mask.
To make it:
- Color or paint the mask.
- Cut around the outside of Frankenstein.
- Carefully cut out the eye openings.
- Punch a hole on each side marked with an X.
- Tie on string or elastic and adjust it to fit.
Adult help is recommended for cutting out the eye holes.
You could also skip the string and attach a craft stick to the bottom or side, letting kids hold the mask up to their face.

Make It Your Own
There’s definitely no rule saying Frankenstein has to be green!
Try paint, crayons, markers, colored pencils, or whatever you already have. Kids can add extra scars, silly details, patterns, or completely unexpected colors.
Ours ended up blue, bright green, dark green, and pale green—and that might be my favorite part of this activity. They all started with the same printable but ended up completely different.
